My friend collects Barbie dolls. he is an expert and I am always impressed by his ability to spot a rare vintage Barbie in a charity shop.
We visited him and his husband on a lovely summer’s evening. In the fading sunlight, they came alive for me and I had to capture them in all their glory.
Barbie is an icon, not necessarily one we should approve of. This series of images is intended to make us think about the place of this doll who is now more than 60 year old has in our culture.
